Is IQ and social skills a better way to determine how much money someone will make than a college degree?

I just know a lot of smart people who didn’t go to college who make a lot of money. All the people I know who did go to college are in debt, don’t make enough and are planning on going back to school because they feel they should get paid more for their jobs. They also want to avoid paying back student loans for as long as possible. Why do they think they deserve to make $50,000 right out of college? Is it just their attitude?
