H. Miller asked: If you are trying to get into affiliate marketing one of the things you will have to invest in is your own website. This is not as hard as you might think it is. Nor does it have to be expensive. You can actually use sites such as blinkweb or weebly to put a simple one-page site together that provides valuable information and promotes your product(s).
When it comes to building your website there are 4 things you need to do. Here they are.
#1 Decide on your nicheBefore you can build your website you have to know what you are going to be promoting. Once you figure out what niche you want to work in you will be able to come up with a design and layout for your webpage(s).
#2 Get a domain name and hostingOnce you figure out your niche you will need to get a domain. Be sure you domain is somehow related to the products you are promoting. For instance if you are promoting a product that shows people how to get their book published then you can get a domain name like getpublishednow.com or something like that. It’s easy to remember and relates to the product. Once you get your domain name you will need to get your hosting. A great place to get both is hostgator.
#3 Create your websiteSimple is the key here. You do not want a busy website. You want something simple and easy to read. Your main objective here is to give the visitor very valuable information and get them to sign up for your mailing list. Do not try to sell to the visitor. Keep in mind that most people come online looking for information not to buy something. If you give them valuable information then the sales will come in without much extra effort on your part.
#4 Get Traffic to your siteThe final step is to start generating traffic to your site. If you have a little extra money to spend you can do some PPC otherwise I would suggest doing article marketing. I personally think article marketing is way better then PPC. Writing articles is in my opinion the best way to generate highly targeted traffic to your site. Write as many articles as you can and then submit them to several article directories. A few that I submit to are ezinearticles, ehow, ideamarketers and goarticles. The search engines love these article directories so your articles should be picked up pretty quick.
